Hey, friend!
Oh man, a lot is going on with the Shivleys!
We’re going to be a part of a new church, Trent’s job is up in the air, and today (in the Collective) I’m going to address some “criticism” I got on a recent blog. Here’s the cliff notes version, and how you can be praying for us.
First, the new church.
Trent has been working for Southpoint Church for almost 13 years. He came on staff to help launch the 2nd campus of the church back in 2010. Well, this fall that campus is going to be launched as an independent church: Hope City!
We’re super excited about this new journey. The vision for Hope City is to help people follow Jesus together and to bring our communities what they desperately need: hope.
We had our first Vision Night on Sunday, and it was absolutely incredible!
If you live (or know anyone who lives) in southeast Michigan, please come to our next, and final, Vision Night this Saturday.
Our lead minister, Mark, will be sharing more about the vision of the church. There will be a time of worship and prayer. There will be personal stories from people excited to be a part of Hope City, and the night will end with dips… so many dips!
Plus, you’ll get to see and hear from both Trent and me. #woopwoop

What this means for Trent’s job…
Honestly, we’re not entirely sure. His job for the last decade has been to service both campuses. Since the two campuses will be moving forward as two independent churches, his position will obviously be eliminated.
We’re not sure if there will be a need for him to be on staff full-time at the new church, so we’re just waiting and walking by faith. We believe strongly in the vision of Hope City, so we’re committed! We just don’t know to what degree Trent’s employment will be tied to our church.
So, we would appreciate your prayers! We know God will provide. We’re just not entirely sure how. Knowing you’re praying for God’s will and provision is such a blessing to us, so thank you in advance ?
We’ll definitely keep you updated as things become more clear!
I recently wrote a blog titled, Do You Really Love Jesus? Well, this week I was contacted with some concern about the content of that blog.
I felt very strongly that I needed to address the content of the concern, the content of my original blog, as well as how we feel about these types of responses. I’ll be doing that in our Facebook Group today at 2:00 pm.
If you can make it I’d love for you to be there, but if 2:00 is a bad time the video will be available to watch when it’s convenient.
Thanks so much for being a part of the Kaloway family. We appreciate you so much, and look forward to growing in faith and life together!
Because there’s a better way,
Sarah (and Trent)
